Our story

Family-run, and it shows.

Aussie Rest isn’t a chain with a logo and a script. It’s seventeen rooms, one family, and a genuine belief that a good night’s sleep and a warm welcome are the whole job — done properly.

We chose Cessnock because it’s the front door to the Hunter Valley — Australia’s oldest wine region — without the wine-country price tag. Our guests come for the cellar doors and the fairways, and they come back for the welcome.

Being hands-on is the point. We check you in ourselves, we know which winery does the best long lunch, and we’re always glad to point you to the best of the valley. When a family tells us they’re bringing kids, the extra towels are in the room before they arrive, with cutlery a quick ask at the office.

We’re not the biggest place in town, and we don’t want to be. We’d rather know your name, keep the rooms spotless, keep the rates honest, and send you off in the morning with good directions and a full kettle.

Meet your hosts

We’ll be the ones at the desk.

When you arrive, you won’t meet a duty manager — you’ll meet us. We’ll point you to the wineries worth your afternoon, sort an early check-in if your room’s ready, and have honest advice on everything from tee times to the best pub schnitzel in town.

Planning a wine tour or a golf weekend? Just ask when you book — pointing guests to the best of the valley is the part of the job we love most.
